We use the words feasting and sharing a lot to describe our food. It’s a type of ethos… creating relaxed food, with lots of options to share, beautiful in quality and generous in size but creating the atmosphere that comes from those memorable nights, sat around with your closest friends and family all eating, talking and enjoying time together.
It’s also where we began our business, spending years perfecting smokehouse and BBQ dishes and serving in a street food style before we decided to raise the bar, the food became worthy of more, it could be elevated to create feasts and platters to rival even food the most finessed dishes other caterers were providing.
Barbeque, smoking and natural methods of cooking are also versatile and create big flavours that work perfectly in lots of different styles. From dressed up American style BBQ platters full of ribs and brisket, or the best Yorkshire meats slow smoked til they fall apart, to charred cuts of meat or vegetables combined with different influences such as Mediterranean or North African flavours. The possibilities are limitless.
Our ethos includes sourcing food locally and ethically wherever we can, we’ve built a strong network of suppliers and producers. Many based in and around York, our meat is raised in Yorkshire from R&J Farmers and Butchers, including our rare breed pork and grass fed beef. We source our chicken from Herb Fed, a passionate supplier of free range meat.
Our seafood from the East Coast, via Fowlers of York. Our other produce is from local and reputable sources including Haxby Bakehouse who creates exceptional artisan breads and Heslington Fresh Foods, a Yorkshire family run business. This builds an important foundation in our food. We then create all our recipes from scratch in house, from our sauces and rubs, to curing, pickling, slow smoking and more.
For example if you want certain dishes adjusting to your taste, or for allergies or intolerances its easily done either for all the food or just to suit a particular number guests. We can also create perfectly balanced options to suit vegetarians and vegans alone or combine these dishes into your main menu, keeping it just as flavourful and interesting as the rest of your menu. But mainly proper in house cooking from scratch by really talented chefs means that the food tastes its best and is created with real passion, bringing out the absolute best in the food.
